The Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq, appointed under the administration of then President Hosni Mubark, submitted his resignation today, after pressure from the pro-democracy movement demanding a purge of the transitional government.
He was instead appointed former Minister of Transport Essam Sharaf to form a new government, said in a statement the military junta in charge of the transition after the fall of Mubarak, reported the Arabic news network Al Arabiya
