The slaughter
My Approach # 359, March 14, 2011, by David Mandel, www.mandeldavid.com
On Friday March 11 2011 Rabbi Udi Fogel, his wife Ruth and their six children held the kiddush. After Shabbat dinner, everyone retired to rest, at least 12 years old Tamar came to participate in the activities of Bnei Akiva, a youth organization.
At 9 pm one or two terrorists jumped on the electronic fence and alarm surrounding Itamar. The alarm sounded in the control room. One of the persons responsible for the night shift went to investigate, he saw that the fence was intact and assumed it was a false alarm, probably, as in many previous cases, caused by an animal. (A television camera had revealed that they were terrorists, but unfortunately, for various reasons, their acquisition was not approved). Decided not to tell the Army unit that was less than a mile away.
The terrorists first came to an empty house. Then around 10:30 pm they entered the house Fogel family through living room window. Roi did not see the 6 year old boy who was sleeping on a couch, and went to the bedroom where they were sleeping Udi Fogel and his daughter, Hadar, baby of three months. The terrorists beheaded them both. Ruth, the mother left the bathroom and was stabbed. They entered the room Yoav, 11 years old, I was reading a book and cut his throat. A Elad, 3 years old, was killed with two stab wounds to the heart. Left the room without seeing Shai, 2 years old, who was sleeping in another bed. They closed the door inside and escaped through the window through which they entered.
Exactly two hours after the first alarm, the alarm sounded again the fence, on the same site above. Again, the alarm was not identified as infiltration. Tamar
returned home at 12:30 am, and could not enter because the door was locked from inside. Asked a neighbor, Rabbi Yaacov Cohen, to help her. Rabbi shouted out the window, and Roi woke and opened the door. When Tamar entered the bedroom he found a scene of Dante and screaming, ran out of the house. Soon after police and soldiers arrived and searched to see if the terrorists continued in Itamar. At 3:30 am they found footprints leading to avrate, the Palestinian people neighbor.
