The forthcoming Olympic Games in London in 2012 could have problems because of the logo chosen. The Iranian government has threatened a boycott and has made a formal protest with the International Olympic Committee logo design, which was created four years ago. According to Iranian representatives, the emblem of the Games could read the word 'Zion'.
The eastern country could have ordered their athletes stay in their homes during the next summer if the logo is not replaced and their creators do not give explanations. "As you have tried some documents on the Internet, the fact of using the word Zion in the logo of the Games is an action very unfortunate for the Olympics," the Iranian statement the IOC.
The statement also indicates that "there is no doubt that this neglect can affect the presence of some countries in the Games, especially Iran, governed by a commitment to the values \u200b\u200band principles."
A controversial logo
This is not the first time the logo has been the focus of all the controversy. Since its inception in 2007, has been compared with a swastika and even a couple making love. However, it is the first time the logo design entails a problem in sport with a protest.
